AMA President to visit remote indigenous communities during NT visit

AMA President, Professor Brian Owler, will this week travel to the Northern Territory to meet doctors and other health workers in Alice Springs, and visit a number of remote Indigenous communities to see first-hand how health services are being delivered at the local level.

In the wake of last week’s Closing the Gap report, which showed that key health and education targets are not being met, Professor Owler will use the visit to observe frontline experiences to inform AMA policy and advocacy on Indigenous health issues.

Professor Owler will visit Alice Springs, Utopia, Ampilatwatja, and Kintore.
