AMA advocacy for GP registrars and COVID-19

We have been concerned to hear about GP trainees feeling under-resourced or unsupported in their roles as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds. The AMA is advocating in a number of areas on behalf of trainees and has today released a document outlining some of those key priorities.

These include
- Access to personal protective equipment
- Greater flexibility to access leave
- Progression through training
- Faster access to Medicare Provider Numbers
- Security of employment
- Wellbeing

GP Registrars are entitled to workplace rights and protections including the right to be free from undue influence or pressure in negotiating arrangements. If you have concerns about your current situation, you can contact your State/Territory AMA for advice and support.
