AMA input into GP training transition
AMA GP and GP registrar representatives participated in a Department of Health (DoH) Stakeholder Consultation Discussion on the GP Training Transition. Our representatives provided feedback on emerging concerns, risks and opportunities around the transitioning of the GP training program from DoH back to the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.
During the discussion the AMA strongly represented the interests of both supervisors and trainees and highlighted that the exclusion of these critical stakeholder groups from the formal consultation structure established by the DoH was a missed opportunity to get valuable feedback and input. The AMA is continuing to make representations to the DoH on this issue and is pushing for the establishment of a broader advisory group.
