How easy is it to fulfil your obligations under the MRBS scheme?

Despite many Medical Rural Bonded Scholarship (MRBS) scheme doctors being willing to complete their return of service obligations in a rural area, anecdotal evidence suggests that strict contract provisions are making it difficult for some to satisfy their obligations. While the AMAs position is that bonding doesn’t work, we will continue to work with the Commonwealth on improving these programs. The AMA will be talking to Minister Hunt and Gillespie over the coming weeks to discuss BMP and MRBS as a whole and how we can focus on improving current contractual arrangements for doctors.
