Mentoring for junior doctors in Queensland
The Australian Medical Association Queensland is supporting the Mentoring Doctors initiative that is encouraging hospitals to pair up young interns with senior doctors.
The mentoring program is underway at Townsville Hospital, where 60 of its 70 interns signed up for the program last year.
The initiative follows a Beyond Blue survey that confirmed high rates of burnout and depression in junior doctors.
The program's designers, Dianne Salvador and Dr Rachel Collings, have published a new book as a national resource − Mentoring doctors: how to design and implement a junior doctor mentoring program.
