Intern Teaching on Informed Consent
The AMA(SA) DiT Committee has developed some teaching on informed consent for Interns and RMOs in response to feedback that many of them didn't feel well prepared.
They addressed basic principles, some clinical scenarios and how to escalate with registrars and consultants when further support is required. AMA (SA) DiT Committee developed the teaching with input from consultants on AMA(SA) council as well as Dr Allan Cyna who has published extensively on patient communication. Feedback on the initial sessions at NAHLN has been positive that the teaching has been focused on assisting doctors in training in addressing clinically difficult situations. They hope to take on board feedback to improve for our presentations to CAHLN and Riverland later in the year.
