Vaccinations Outside of General Practice - 2021
The AMA position statement on Vaccinations Outside of General Practice was first approved by Federal Council in 2011, was updated in 2016, and now again in 2021. The latest iteration takes account of new global objectives on immunisation, COVID-19, further expands on the role of GPs, and updates relevant data and references.
While highlighting the AMA view that best practice is for vaccinations to be provided by a medical practitioner or by a nurse under the supervision of a medical practitioner, the position statement provides a set of principles that the AMA encourages any provider delivering vaccine services outside of general practice to adhere to.
