Correspondence with Health Minister regarding satellite hospitals

The Queensland Government’s election commitment to build seven new ‘Satellite Hospitals’ has caused concern amongst AMA Queensland members. Many fear the facilities, which will not be true hospitals but minor injury and illness clinics providing additional services such as renal dialysis or chemotherapy, will cause general practices to close and do nothing to reduce emergency department presentations.

AMA Queensland has written to the Health Minister outlining these concerns and is awaiting a response.
