Automated Decision Making and AI Regulation - AMA submission to the Prime Minister and Cabinet consultation
The AMA provided a submission on Automated Decision Making and AI Regulation to the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet on 22 April.
The AMA welcomed the consultation and called on the Government to ensure that any future regulation in this space doesn’t negatively effect healthcare. The AMA called for development and implementation of a common set of agreed principles that will establish a compliance baseline for all those involved. Any future regulation of this field will need to ensure that AI and ADM are utilised only where this will genuinely contribute to improving health outcomes of patients, and ensuring equity by applying adequate ethical principles and protections.
