AMA submission to the TGA - proposed amendments to the Poisons Standard – March 2021
In this submission, the AMA continues to oppose relaxing the regulation around medicines advertising for Schedule 3 products. The AMA opposes Appendix H entries for metoclopramide, chloramphenicol, and prochlorperazine to allow direct to consumer advertising of these products. The AMA opposes increasing the quantity of toxins identified in processed Aconitum carmichaelii. The AMA supports a Schedule 9 entry for kambo and a Schedule 10 entry for nitrous oxide. The AMA does not oppose exempting hemp seed oil from the Poisons Standard when regulated under the Australian and New Zealand Food Standard Code.
