AMA submission: MRAC Telehealth Post- Implementation Review
The AMA submission to the MRAC review of MBS telehealth items strongly opposes the recommendation to remove MBS items for initial telehealth consults with non-GP specialists. This will undermine access for patients and is inconsistent with other recommendations in the report.
The AMA is supportive of other changes suggested in the report that will strengthen telehealth delivery for Australians and remove loopholes which have allowed entrepreneurial businesses to exploit the lack of requirement for a face-to-face relationship.
The AMA is supportive of efforts to more regularly review the MBS and will look to engage further on the proposals in this report.
