AMA Submission to Healthcare Identifiers Framework Project Consultation
On 28 February the AMA provided a submission to the Department of Health and Aged Care consultation on the Healthcare Identifiers Framework Project.
The AMA submission welcomes the consultation, as successful implementation of Healthcare Identifiers (HIs) will be the prerequisite for successful achievement of healthcare system interoperability. The submission however raises concerns around proposals to expand the access to HIs, replace all other identifiers with HIs, expanding the purpose for which HIs can be used and expanding the circumstances where an individual can consent to their Individual Healthcare identifier (IHI) can be used to link their health and other personal information.
