To be eligible to claim the medical expenses tax offset in 2014-15, the patient must have received the offset in their 2013-14 income tax assessment. 2014-15 is the final year patients can claim the tax offset unless they have medical expenses relating to disability aids, attendant care or aged care, in which case the tax offset can be claimed for these items up to the 2018-19 income tax year.
