One week left to register for online GP roundtable

The AMA’s Council of Doctors in Training will host an online event to discuss ways to make general practice an attractive career pathway for young doctors and students.

There’s only one week left until the AMA Council of Doctors in Training’s upcoming virtual GP Roundtable: Better than a backup: supporting doctors in training to choose a career in general practice

The virtual roundtable will be held on Friday 31 March 2023, 11:00am to 1:00pm AEDT.

AMA Council of Doctors in Training Chair, Dr Hannah Szewczyk, will lead our panel discussion to highlight best practice and innovative training models in general practice training, and explore policy levers that can be used to provide positive exposure to, and improve the attractiveness of, a career in general practice for doctors in training.

Panellists include:

  1. A/Prof Riitta Partanen, Director, Rural Clinical School, University of Queensland
  2. Mr Martin Rocks, Assistant Secretary – Training, Health Design Lab, Department of Health and Aged Care
  3. Dr Paul Mara, Managing Director, Quality Practice Accreditation, and architect of the Murrumbidgee Single Employer Model
  4. Dr Danielle McMullen, AMA Vice President, General Practitioner
  5. Dr Daniel Wilson, Co-Deputy Chair, AMA Council of Doctors in Training, new Rural Generalist Fellow.

This virtual roundtable is aimed at anyone involved in, or with an interest in GP education and training, medical workforce planning, and the medical training continuum from medical school through to vocational training.
