The AMA’s journal—the Medical Journal of Australia (MJA)—recently announced the appointment of the journal’s new Editor-in-Chief (EIC), Professor Ginny Barbour. Professor Barbour takes over as EIC following the announcement earlier this year by Laureate Professor Nick Talley of his departure from the role.
In this week’s MJA Professor Barbour speaks about her agenda for the MJA in an Insight+ article and in the MJA Podcast.
Professor Barbour said she was very excited to be joining the MJA, and that national medical journals like the MJA can be “very influential in both political and public health policy”. She hoped to increase the MJA’s impact in the widest sense rather than simply the measure of impact factors by “helping doctors on the frontline, patient outcomes, public health outcomes and impact in its much wider sense”.
