The enhanced Medical Costs Finder website (MCF) is launching soon.
The MCF is an online tool designed to reduce ‘bill shock’ for consumers from unexpected out-of-pocket medical expenses and educate them on the contributions that Medicare and private health insurers can make on their behalf.
The federal government hopes it will support conversations between doctors and patients about medical costs and provide greater confidence in private healthcare.
The AMA has worked with government on the redevelopment of this website to ensure the role Medicare and private health insurers play in contributing to patients’ out-of-pocket costs is highlighted.
To find out more, you can attend an information session being run online by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care:
- 19 December, 7 pm - 8 pm
- 21 December, 7 am - 8 am.
For enquiries, email the MCF team.
Participation is voluntary. If you would like to sign up you can through the MCF Portal using PRODA.
