AMA Fees List - March update

Further updates to the AMA Fees List are now available to AMA members and Fees List subscribers.

AMA Members are advised the latest update of the AMA Fees List is now live, including the adjustment to the AMA indexation rate. Please see here.

Fees List items update

The AMA Fees List has now been updated in response to changes to the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) that came into effect on 1 November 2022.  This update includes changes to 34 items in the following categories;

  • Surgical Operations:
    • Orthopaedic surgery (3 new items, 5 amended items)
    • Melanoma excision (7 new items, 6 amended items)
    • Cardiothoracic surgery (6 amended items)
    • Varicose veins (6 amended items)
  • Diagnostic Procedures
    • Vascular (1 amended item)

These changes are now updated in the AMA Fees List and are available on the Fees List website, including PDF and CSV files for download.

The remaining 1 November MBS changes will be reflected in the Fees List at the next update. Detailed information on the MBS changes can be found in the Department of Health fact sheets and quick reference guides available on MBS Online here.

Please note the 1 March 2023 MBS changes (including services within otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, thoracic surgery, complex neurodevelopmental disorders and disabilities and other minor amendments) are currently under review for inclusion into the Fees List with draft fees available upon request. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide an estimated timeline for the publish date for these changes at this time.
