South Australian hospitals standing out for all the wrong reasons

It’s taken 19 months but AMA(SA) President Dr Michelle Atchison, Vice President Dr John Williams and CEO Dr Sam Mead were finally able to welcome AMA President Dr Omar Khorshid in Adelaide on Tuesday, 15 March. Dr Khorshid outlined to members of AMA(SA) Council the key AMA federal election priorities – with funding for public hospitals obviously a major focus for Saturday’s state election.

On Wednesday, Dr Khorshid and Dr Atchison launched the SA Chapter of the AMA’s Public Hospital Report Card.

They were joined at a media conference outside the Royal Adelaide Hospital by Health and Wellbeing Minister Stephen Wade, Opposition Leader Peter Malinauskas and Shadow Health Minister Chris Picton at a media conference where they asked for a commitment to the AMA’s Clear the hospital logjam campaign for more Commonwealth investment in health services.

The media release and the transcript of the media conference are below...
