More than three years after AMA(SA) staged the Culture and Bullying Summit, doctors – and particularly junior doctors – continue to report that bullying remains an issue in their workplaces.
In the Winter edition of medicSA, Doctors in Training Committee Chair Dr Hayden Cain and Federal AMA Council of Doctors in Training Chair Dr Hannah Szewczyk examine the data in the recently released Hospital Health Check survey – data that shows that bullies continue to cause distress to junior doctors and affect their capacity to provide best-quality care, and that many of the doctors are senior clinicians.
We also have new President Dr John Williams expressing his vision for his term, as explained to the audience at the AMA(SA) Gala Ball on 20 May, and the tips outgoing President Dr Michelle Atchison provided to her successor as she handed him the President’s Medal.
And we shine a spotlight on the increasingly problematic repercussions of concussion in sport.
