A PRACTICAL VISION FOR HEALTH CARE IN AUSTRALIA

AMA President, Professor Brian Owler, National Press Club, Wednesday 22 July 2015

AMA President, Professor Brian Owler, will address the National Press Club in Canberra on Wednesday, 22 July 2015.

Professor Owler will set out priorities to strengthen the Australian health system to cope with growing demand.

Acknowledging the political and economic realities that confront Governments, Professor Owler will outline the practical, affordable, and achievable policies and actions that the AMA believes will best serve the health needs of the Australian population.

Major issues currently confronting the health system include the impact of the ongoing freeze on Medicare patient rebates, public hospital funding cuts, Indigenous health, medical workforce training, and the Government’s review of the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS).
