AMA National Summit on Alcohol Marketing to Young People

The AMA – in association with the National Alliance for Action on Alcohol (NAAA) – is tomorrow hosting the AMA National Summit on Alcohol Marketing to Young People at Parliament House in Canberra.

The Summit will discuss concerns around contemporary alcohol marketing to young people – including digital marketing and new media, sponsorship of sporting and cultural events, and marketing tricks and tactics – and the participants will make a united call on the Government to establish an Inquiry into alcohol marketing to examine stronger regulation and policy.

AMA President, Dr Steve Hambleton, will officially open the Summit at 10.00am.

The AMA will launch a new report – Alcohol Marketing and Young People: Time for a new policy agenda – and a Communiqué will be released at the conclusion of the Summit.

***Dr Hambleton, Julia Stafford (McCusker Centre for Action on Alcohol and Youth), and Caterina Giorgi (Foundation for Alcohol Research & Education) will be available for comment on the Summit and the Communiqué at a media doorstop in the Senate Courtyard, Parliament House, at 1.30pm.

The AMA National Summit on Alcohol Marketing to Young People will include representatives from key organisations including:
