AMA Doctors in Training join workforce body

Chair of the AMA’s Council of Doctors in Training Dr Sanjay Hettige attended the workforce meeting on 5 August.

The Chair of the AMA’s Council of Doctors in Training (AMACDT), Dr Sanjay Hettige, attended the inaugural meeting of the Medical Workforce Advisory Collaboration (MWAC) earlier this month in Canberra. The MWAC provides advice to Australian Government and state and territory health ministers, through the Health Workforce Taskforce, on medical workforce matters.

MWAC is the evolution of the previous Medical Workforce Reform Advisory Committee, bringing together important stakeholders in the medical workforce to advise government on the pipeline of critical work being undertaken to provide Australians with a sustainable health workforce.

AMACDT representatives will attend future MWAC meetings to ensure doctors in training are represented and that their experiences and voices are heard. This will ensure future doctors in training will be part of a medical workforce that has safe working conditions along with excellent training.
