Struck off doctor wins appeal to work
Dr Hadiza Bawa-Garba has won her appeal to avoid being struck off the medical register in the UK. This case raised serious concerns about scapegoating individuals for the failures of a system and promoting a toxic culture of silence and blame. The General Medical Council in the UK says they have accepted the appeal and are reflecting on the outcry from the profession to better support doctors working under untenable circumstances - where really, improving the system would be the best way to safeguard patient health and avoid tragic events like the death of Jack Adcock.
