Register now to attend AMA National Conference Canberra 2016

The 2016 AMA National Conference provides a platform for Australia’s leading doctors to share their ideas on the way ahead for Australia’s health system in the midst of a changing landscape. This year’s conference looks better than ever with a lineup of exciting speakers, interactive National Convention Centre and is set to be an inspiring weekend.

Program highlights include Assisted Dying: Exploring Members' Perspectives, facilitated by Tony Jones, The Role of Private Health Insurance in the Australian Health Care System, moderated by Prof Brian Owler, AMA President, and Medical self-regulation – diagnosis, prognosis and treatment.

In the DiT policy session this year attendees will hear from incoming RACS President A/Prof Philip Truskett, Barrister Chris Ronalds SC, and RACSTA Cahir, Dr Ruth Mitchell, who will explore prevailing attitudes towards bullying and harassment in medicine and other professional groups and examine whether the nature of the profession and workplace will allow the culture change necessary to deliver a safer work environment.

The AMACDT Leadership Development Dinner (LDD) will be a great night at The Boathouse by the Lake. We are almost ready to announce our key note speaker so get in early to secure your ticket.

We are also very excited to announce that this year for the first time we will be awarding an AMA DiT of the Year Award at the LDD. This award recognises outstanding achievement in leadership and advocacy and encourages further development of leadership skills. The award recipient will be given a place in the AMA Future Leaders Program. All nominees must be AMA members, and nominations for this award may only be made by a member of the AMA.

Further information on the award criterion and nomination information can be found at https://ama.com.au/article/ama-dit-year-award-call-nominations

Our Conference is not just for Elected Officers and delegates. We need your voice to inform the policy debate and steer a course for the AMA. Our members are our strength. Help the AMA continue as the peak health organisation in the country.
