AMA urges changes to the skilled occupations list

In a meeting held this month with the Department of Education and Training, the AMA, along with the ASA, RANZCOG, and ANZCA - has urged changes to the skilled occupations list (SOL) as part of the process of updating the SOL for 2016-17. The AMA has urged the review to consider more recent health workforce data that has been produced by the National Medical Training Network, which is likely to show an easing of workforce pressures across a number of specialties and the need to support domestic graduates in accessing prevocational and vocational training places.
