AMA leading reform to BMP scheme

The AMA has met with the Assistant Minister for Health, the Hon Dr David Gillespie, to secure a commitment from him to address some of the key issues with current bonding arrangements.

The AMACDT will form a bonded student/graduate working group to provide policy guidance to the Department of Health on proposals to reform bonded medical workforce arrangements.

The AMA is seeing more and more BMP and MRBS graduates contact the AMA with significant problems in fulfilling their contract. AMACDT has been campaigning for more reasonable and flexible arrangements for pre-2016 BMP Scheme students and Medical Rural Bonded Scholarship Scheme holders.
