Privacy Resource Handbook 2010 16 August 2010 - 1:00am

The AMA has developed a Privacy Resource handbook to help doctors comply with the Privacy Act 1988.

The Resource handbook is based on the Privacy Act 1988 in force as at 1 July 2010.

The AMA intends to update this Resource Book if the proposed changes become law.

Medical practitioners (doctors involved in patient care) can make a significant contribution to the effective and efficient management of public and private hospitals. Doctors can contribute to better management of health costs while ensuring quality patient care and outcomes by being involved in decisions about resource allocation and the purchasing of services for the provision of patient care.

The management of hospitals works best when doctors are engaged in clinical and corporate governance.

AMA Submission in response to the ACSQHC discussion paper on the Review of National Safety and Quality Accreditation Standards 29 October 2007 - 8:00am

This submission is in response to the ACSQHC July 2007 discussion paper on the National Quality and Safety Accreditation Standards Review which calls for an alternative model and recommends high level strategic reforms together with modest operational reforms. The AMA does not support the direction of the ACSQHC paper, but advocates a single fully resourced and minimally invasive system of safety and accreditation.
