AMA submission to the Senate Select Committee on COVID-19
The AMA has made a submission to the Senate Select Committee on COVID-19. While the AMA feels that it is far too early to evaluate the impact the the Government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are suportive of the overall the the measures, policies, and programs implemented by the Federal Government and the National Cabinet to manage the impact of the global pandemic in this country.
The submission outlines the AMA's early efforts to to highlight the risks of COVID-19, discusses specific aspects of the Government's response such as the introduction of telehealth and efforts to secure PPE, and reiterates the importance of appropriate mental health supports and the utility of an Australian CDC.
The AMA will continue to work with the Federal Government, the National Cabinet and the Department of Health as the pandemic continues to ensure that the response is appropriate and based on the advice of medical experts.
