Dr Hambleton rejects claims of widespread rorting of the Medicare system by doctors after former director of the Professional Services Review Panel Dr Tony Webber said that the scheme is dysfunctional and up to $3b is wasted each year because of insufficient safeguards. Dr Hambleton says neither the AMA nor a majority of the profession would agree with the figures.
