AMACDT Leadership Dinner 2009

The AMA National Conference will be in Melbourne on 29-31 May 2009. As part of the conference, the AMA will be hosting its leadership dinner on Friday 29 May. All doctors in training and medical students are invited to attend.

Michael Milton, the champion skier, cyclist and Paralympian will be the guest speaker. Michael has also overcome cancer on two occasions. It will be a fascinating and inspiring evening.

The dinner includes a two-course meal and drinks. The cost is $55 for students, $65 for doctors in training, and $90 for all others. Call (02) 6270 5481 or email natcon@ama.com.au for your ticket. Online registration will be available soon.

AMA releases position statement on clinical support time

In response to growing service delivery pressures in the public sector, the AMA has released a position statement on clinical support time (non-clinical time) for public hospital doctors.

The position statement makes recommendations on paying senior and junior doctors for clinical support duties. It also includes a comprehensive list of clinical support duties to assist doctors to develop their job descriptions and work schedules. Read the position statement here

General Practice Registrars Australia (GPRA) and the General Practice Students Network (GPSN) have launched GREYMATTER, an online open-access repository of ‘grey’ literature on primary healthcare issues. Find out more

AMACDT Deputy Chair

The AMA Federal Council recently approved an amendment to the AMACDT Terms of Reference to enable the appointment of an AMACDT Deputy Chair. The Deputy Chair must be a member of the AMA special interest group – doctors in training. The role will provide support to the AMACDT chair, which has experienced a growing workload. AMACDT Chair casual vacancy

The casual vacancy of the position of Chair of the AMA Council of Doctors in Training will become available in May. The Chair must be a member of the AMA special interest group – doctors in training.
