Family Doctor Week (FDW) is an annual AMA event designed to raise the profile of general practice in Australia. The 15th annual FDW runs from 22-28 July 2007.
The slogan for FDW this year is "Your GP: Part of the Family". Under this slogan, the AMA will promote the importance of general practice in our families and how central GPs are to the health and well being of Australians. We will be emphasising the high level of GP skills and reminding the public that general practitioners are specialists who are key to their long-term health and well being.
Local and national activities will be held throughout Australia during the week, ranging from stalls providing information to the public to a National Press Club Address by the new AMA President, general practitioner, Dr Rosanna Capolingua.
AMA State/Territory Branches and GP organisations around Australia have been sent copies of the Family Doctor Week poster for distribution and display. Two additional resources are available to assist in promoting activities. These resources include a magnetic photo frame which links to the poster theme, and the ever popular balloon. Both these resources continue to endorse FDW. See an example of these resources below.
Media campaigns will be planned for every day of FDW and these will cover a range of issues.
If you would like further information or to receive the resources available to assist in promoting your activities, please contact Wendy Lorincz at the Federal AMA on (02) 6270 5426.
