Government's Review of its Medical Indemnity Package

Mr Graham Rogers headed the Review and reported to Government in March 2005. The recomendations in the review have been acted on by the Government. The AMA's urging that the Government withdrew no money from the indemnity industry was heeded. Ministers Abbott and Brough released a press statement on 13 May. The Government committed to reducing doctors' contributions and the contribution years under the UMP Support Payment Scheme.

The general Review of the whole of the Government's Medical Indemnity Package will still take place as planned in mid 2005. Member feedback on any aspect of Medical Indemnity coverage is invited by the AMA. Comments can be forwarded to indemnity@ama.com.au.
