This Working Party, consisting of the AMA, CPMC and MIIAA, was formed in response to a perceived need for review and rationalisation of existing Risk Management activities. This Working Party represents yet another positive approach to improving those factors influencing medical indemnity.
Following initial discussions the Working Party produced a presentation designed to inform significant stakeholders about its ideas and vision, and to get consensus from those present. In June 2004 a Forum was held in Canberra to discuss Risk Management, what key stakeholders saw as important components of any future strategy and to present the Working Parties vision. Attendees included representatives from the AMA, Medical Colleges, the five major Medical Defence Organizations, other medical representative bodies, and State and Federal Government.
There was strong support from those present and a consensus statement, which can be found at the end of the presentation, was formulated. (see Powerpoint presentation)
